The big story
How AI Agents Are Changing Trading, Wallets and On-Chain Actions
What happened. AI agents take a goal and work through multi-step tasks with limited human involvement. Coinbase’s AgentKit and Safe’s smart accounts now give them controlled wallet access: transfers, swaps and payments under per-transaction and session spending caps, with setups where the agent proposes and a person signs.
Why it matters. Agents could make crypto interfaces more automated, but none of this guarantees better outcomes: outputs can be wrong, automation amplifies mistakes, and transactions are usually irreversible. Mugano is not recommending autonomous trading.
What to watch. OWASP ranks prompt injection and excessive permissions among the top risks for agent systems.
Three things to know
Regulation: Senate Defers CLARITY Act Ahead of August Recess
CoinDesk reported the chamber prioritised other legislative business, with its tentative recess beginning 10 August. Preliminary procedural steps remain possible before then, but fuller consideration is now expected in September.
Markets: Ether ETF Weekly Inflows Triple Bitcoin’s Total
US spot ether ETFs drew about $104 million in the week to 24 July, according to SoSoValue data — roughly triple the $34 million bitcoin funds retained after late-week outflows, leaving ether with the larger share of net inflows.
Security: Wanchain Bridge Exploit Hits Midnight’s NIGHT Token
Attackers exploited a signature flaw in the legacy bridge linking Cardano and BNB Chain on 21 July. Bridges concentrate large balances in one place, which is why they remain frequent targets.

What is a cross-chain bridge?
A cross-chain bridge lets tokens move between blockchains, usually by locking assets on one chain and issuing matching tokens on another. That concentrates a large pooled balance in one place — the reason bridges are repeatedly targeted, as this week’s Wanchain exploit showed. Bridge transfers carry risks distinct from holding the asset.
